Hey everyone,
This is my first blog post and I figured I'd just get right into it! Today was the fourth session in my 200 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) training in Raja Yoga Therapy. We started at noon in the studio and got right into an intermediate level class (1.5 hours). I felt pretty strong - much better than last week when I was nursing an injured ankle and my wrists were really sore. (side note: don't jump rope on a bosu - it only works if you are that guy on youtube lol). Anyway, the rest of the workshop covered some of the 8 limbs of yoga, the deeper mind/body connection etc. (too deep to go into here), but if anyone is interested read The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali: Commentary on the Raja Yoga Sutras by Sri Swami Satchidananda (available on Amazon.com). Anyway, after a short discussion we went through student teaching single asanas and then went into linking poses. This part of the class isn't too hard since I'm used to teaching in front of people, but I always get more nervous when I'm teaching in front of other 'instructors/teachers' - I guess it's because regular students wouldn't be able to tell as easily when I mess up and I hate messing up! I guess to be truly into yoga I need to let go of that though (and other ego related issues).
Other than that, today we are pet-sitting in Redding, always a nice break from the MIL. Mike made a nice dinner of chicken w/barbecue marinade & asparagus (then I ate a bunch of marshmallows and a samoa (girl scout cookies rule)! Hopefully Mike and I will watch some tv tonight otherwise I'll be online surfing around (not good for the wrists)! He's practicing right now for the wedding band he just joined and studying for the GMAT - he's been so busy lately - but I'm proud of him that he has been so motivated. The prospect of buying a house will motivate you though - it's going to be $$, but worth it :) More about the house on another day!
Good evening ;)
