To be a trainer, you pretty much have to get up early or you won't have many clients! I think it's in my blood to stay up late, but I'm slowly getting the hang of getting up at 4:30, 5:30 or 6:00 am. It's so hard to get up when it's still dark though - I guess I can look at the bright side and be happy I get to see the sunrise :)

So I have a morning ritual that get me through the toughest first little bit after I hit snooze. I put water on to boil, take my powdered vitamins and make green tea and cereal (Go Lean Crunch) or oatmeal and once my tea is ready I bring my cereal and tea up to my pc and check e-mails, browse some forums etc. I need an hour to get ready or I won't have time for my pc check lol.

Well, it's time to jump in the shower - be back with something more interesting later! lol

Amy ;)

Procrastination

Okay, I have a few minutes, so I figure instead of doing the three or four things I had on my To Do list, I'll procrastinate even more by writing a post here lol! How fitting. Anyway, what makes people procrastinate? Is it just laziness, or is it something more, possibly a stubborness we hold onto from childhood (ex. "I don't have to clean my room if I don't want to")...

My goal is to force myself to do something I don't want to for at least 30 minutes each day, and hopefully I'll start to become more self-disciplined. Also, letting things build up usually creates stress, so why do we do it? I know there are people out there who don't procrastinate much - I'd love to find out their secrets!

Well, now I have a class to teach - be back soon!

Amy

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Well I'm wearing green today (when I get dressed lol - still in pjs) and possibly going out for a beer downtown with Mike and a couple of friends - I have to get up super early tomorrow though, so not sure if I really want to go. We had dinner with our friends, Amy & James on Sat. night at The Ginger Man - if you like stout - you have to try Young's Double Chocolate Stout (it's much lighter and sweeter than most stouts) - only had one though, more than that would get a little too sweet I think. Anyway, it went well with the turkey burger w/avocado and sweet potato fries - yummmy! My friend Amy is 16 weeks along and having a girl - we talked a little about baby names (they seem to like Allessandra quite a bit) - not sure on the spelling. She also brought the ultrasound pictures to show us - the baby is only the size of a lipstick but pretty much fully formed - oh and Amy is still really thin, I couldn't tell at all that she was pregnant!

So all I have to do today is train my one friend at her house and then going to relax since the rest of my week is going to be crazy!

Be back soon!

Amy

Yoga Training

Hey everyone,

This is my first blog post and I figured I'd just get right into it! Today was the fourth session in my 200 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) training in Raja Yoga Therapy. We started at noon in the studio and got right into an intermediate level class (1.5 hours). I felt pretty strong - much better than last week when I was nursing an injured ankle and my wrists were really sore. (side note: don't jump rope on a bosu - it only works if you are that guy on youtube lol). Anyway, the rest of the workshop covered some of the 8 limbs of yoga, the deeper mind/body connection etc. (too deep to go into here), but if anyone is interested read The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali: Commentary on the Raja Yoga Sutras by Sri Swami Satchidananda (available on Amazon.com). Anyway, after a short discussion we went through student teaching single asanas and then went into linking poses. This part of the class isn't too hard since I'm used to teaching in front of people, but I always get more nervous when I'm teaching in front of other 'instructors/teachers' - I guess it's because regular students wouldn't be able to tell as easily when I mess up and I hate messing up! I guess to be truly into yoga I need to let go of that though (and other ego related issues).

Other than that, today we are pet-sitting in Redding, always a nice break from the MIL. Mike made a nice dinner of chicken w/barbecue marinade & asparagus (then I ate a bunch of marshmallows and a samoa (girl scout cookies rule)! Hopefully Mike and I will watch some tv tonight otherwise I'll be online surfing around (not good for the wrists)! He's practicing right now for the wedding band he just joined and studying for the GMAT - he's been so busy lately - but I'm proud of him that he has been so motivated. The prospect of buying a house will motivate you though - it's going to be $$, but worth it :) More about the house on another day!

Good evening ;)
